2015: Off to a Bold Start!

With less than a week of 2015 under our collective belts, we are brimming with excitement for the coming year and feeling buoyed by the collective support all the individuals who contributed to our end of year campaign. We raised over $14,500 in year-end gifts, and topped our Give!Guide goal with over $7,000 in donations! Thank you to everyone who gave, spread the word, and helped to rally this remarkable outpouring of community support.

On the horizon:

Young Audiences Programs Director Allison Tigard, Community Outreach Manager Marie Schumacher, and teaching artist Anne Rutherford will travel to Atlanta, GA for the first Arts for Learning Professional Learning Conference next week. We are thrilled to be joining peers across the country to share best practices and explore new developments in the Arts for Learning (A4L) curriculum. Thanks to significant funding from the National Young Audiences‘ JC Penney A4L Grant Program, will be able to expand the use of A4L at Portland’s Lewis Elementary in 2015.

Save the date for A Night of the Town with Young Audiences! Put on your dancing shoes, dress up in your best, and get ready for a night of fabulous food, fun, and fundraising for the arts! It’s all happening on Saturday, March 14 at Portland’s Pure Space. Tickets are available now–get them before it’s too late! P.S. Did we mention craft cocktails from Barlow and music from Patrick Lamb?

This spring we will launch our brand new Live Sound Engineering for Teens program for high school students in the Portland area. With pilot funding from National Young Audiences and The Mentor Graphics Foundation, and two years of sustaining support from the Oregon Arts Commission‘s Connecting Students to the World of Work program, we will train students with hands-on technical and creative skills. Plus, each session will end with a public concert mixed by the participants. Keep your eyes open for dates and details in the coming months!
