A Sound Partnership

Live SET Students help sound engineer a live concert

Last year, Young Audiences piloted our very first 200-level Live SET (Sound Engineering for Teens) course. The students taking the 200-level course had already completed the first Live SET class, and were eager to learn more. A smaller instructor-to-student ratio meant that students had more one-on-one time with the sound board. Students also got to visit professional performance venues like the Keller Auditorium and the Crystal Ballroom.

And, like all Live SET courses, the 200-level students engineer a live musical concert as their capstone project.

These students work hard, they’re focused on a goal, and they wake up early on their weekends to learn the art and science of sound engineering. Completing the 200-level course takes commitment and dedication to learning the ins and outs of making live music sound great.

Thanks to the Audix Corporation, Young Audiences was able to provide the 200-level graduates in 2016 and 2017 with brand new Audix OM2 microphones. The teens were surprised and elated with their graduation gifts, and Young Audiences is pleased to partner with Audix – a local Oregon company founded in 1984 and located in Wilsonville.

Camas High School Choir Students perform with AU

But Audix’s commitment to support local community organizations like Young Audiences doesn’t end there. The company was also instrumental in making the AU & Camas High School Choir performance at our gala in May sound fantastic by providing state-of-the-art choir microphones to Young Audiences.

We’re incredibly grateful to partner with community-focused companies like Audix, and are grateful for their shared commitment to promoting involvement and skill development in the professional audio and music industries.
