Young Audiences has assisted me in being a better storyteller and teacher by providing so many opportunities through workshops and professional development classes. Also, the community of artists and the administrators and staff at Young Audiences provide a sense of home and a quality of connection and camaraderie in what can sometimes feel like a solitary road.
Will Hornyak, Teaching Artist
We believe that all of our young people deserve to have high-quality, professional art experiences on a regular basis. For over 50 years, Young Audiences has worked with professional artists to bring exciting, innovative, and fun arts experiences to hundreds of schools in the Portland Metro and surrounding areas. We work with a roster of experienced and talented teaching artists that are interested in sharing their craft with young people in our region. Our artists are ambassadors for the arts and for our organization in the community and we are dedicated to supporting their essential work in our area.
Becoming a Young Audiences roster artist provides you with programming exposure to thousands of local education professionals through our website, blog, email blasts, online guide, and partner networks. We work hard to promote our artists, to help them establish relationships with schools, to provide logistical support, and to offer valuable professional development to help our artists develop their skills as teaching artists. We have a dedicated in-house staff that facilitates scheduling, accounting, and technical logistics and is available to answer questions, provide support, and offer training and consultation.
