About Us Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington, founded in 1958 as the regional chapter of the nation’s leading arts and education organization, has evolved from presenting only classical music assembles in our early years to currently offering a full ranges of programs in multiple artistic disciplines and cultures, all in support of our mission: To enhance children’s learning with creative resources from the arts community.
Arts and Education Programming Arts and Education programming is the heart of Young Audiences’ service to the community, bringing artists and teachers together to ensure the arts are an integral part of our children’s educational experience. Students actively participate in music, drama, visual arts, dance and literary arts through Residencies, Performances, Workshops and Family Arts Nights. These programs celebrate, teach and open worlds of expression, helping students cultivate essential knowledge and skills necessary for success in the 21st century- imagination, creativity, self-direction, flexibility and appreciation of diversity and teamwork.

It is a yearly “jogathon” conducted by individual schools throughout Oregon & SW Washington and coordinated by Young Audiences. Students secure pledges for laps run, earn points, win prizes and raise money to ensure the arts are present at their school.
